Turning Archive 2006
Dominic Greco in Richboro PA
I received this beautiful natural edge oak burl bowl from Greg Kulibert of Oshkosh Wisconsin on Saturday. Needless to say, I'm pretty pleased with this gift!
It measures about 7" in OD at it's widest part, stands about 3" tall and features a 1 3/4" OD base. Greg wrote that he turned it while the wood was still wet, hence the slight distortion (which I think works excellently with the natural edge form).
The picture I took really doesn't show the colors well enough. It reminds me of the Painted Desert. The grain patterns have an almost geological look to them and are reminiscent of those weathered sandstone canyons, plateaus, and arroyos of the Southwest.
Thanks again Greg!
See ya around,
