Chuck Thread Adapter Problem *PIC*

>I was turning a large maple blank yesterday it was fairly heavy and green 13 inch diamter by 9 inches thick. When I was hollowing I had the lathe running in reverse and evidently didn't notice the Stronghold chuck was loosening. In a very short period of time I ruined the chuck's thread adapter. I thought I'd post this as a FYI for others. I don't remembering seeing this addressed. I have seen discussions on locking the chuck to the spindle. I guess this is the reason.

Here's an after picture. Maybe I can save someone the $25 the new adapter is going to cost me.
