Subject:
green timber advice please

ken chase
>I live in the Calif desert and was given a big load of wood by a local tree trimmer. Not sure what it is but lots of flame detail in rust and brown colors. The odd thing is some areas are really wet and others very dry, even appear spalted. Chalky like. Is it a bad idea to use this wood? I turned a nine inch wide by four inch high hollowform to under 1/4" thick and some areas at the outer perimeter are quite wet as described. Ii'm soaking the piece in alcohol for a couple days hoping that may stabilize the drying. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
I'd hate to throw so much wood away.
Thanks
