Subject:
End grain

Don Tewell
>I am trying to turn a cherry bowl for my daughter in law. I am having a lot of problems getting the end grain smooth enough to start sanding. I have taken very fine shearing cuts but not close enough to start the sanding process. Is there a way to prevent tear out? I thought I remembered a thread about using something on the bowl to help alleviate this. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
