Subject:
Question about oil finishes

Scott Hurley in N. VA
>I recently decided to experiment with pure tung oil on a small maple bowl. As per instructions on the bottle, I thinned some of it with mineral spirits and used that for the first 2 coats. Now, after 2 coats of full-strength tung oil, I noticed that it never seems to dry. I thought pure tung oil would dry after a few days. It's been several days now, and it's continually 'weeping' oil out of the wood. It feels oily, and every few hours, you can see more oil on the surface. How long should I expect the oil to keep weeping out of the wood? Is there any hope for this one? Thanks.
