Gluing bristles into a handle *LINK*

I turned a handle last night, from a burl cut-off that was too small for anything else. It came out nicely. The question now is, what's the best method for gluing the bristles, which are essentially broomstraws, into the handle? Both hot glue and wood glue (Titebond, etc.) have come to mind. Any other ideas or thoughts on this? Note that the brush will be in contact with water (at least on the bristles) any time it's used.
