Subject:
UHMW sheet router table

Phil in NJ
>I got the great (so I thought) idea of making my router table
with a UHMW top (over an MDF core). I just received the UHMW sheet (1/4") today
and it is quite rough... the extrusion or cutting process left
the surface with heavy parallel scratches in one direction that
are enough to make use as a router table difficult.

I'm wondering (despite warnings I've read) whether I should try
to run it through the drum sander, or just try to send it back?

The sheet is 28" x 35", so I could theoretically put it twice
through my 16/32 sander (but once I do that I definitely own it!).

Thanks!
Phil
