Subject:
Boiling Green Wood

>I picked up a turkey deep fryer last week with the intension of boiling green wood. Before I buy another propane tank I wonder if this system really works. I want to core out rough blanks of red oak and sycamore I picked up yesterday. I have used Anchorseal in the past but it only delays the cracks. I leave plenty of meat in my cores for distortion but dont want to take the time to turn something with cracks in it. The big pot is aluminum and dont know if this metal causes wood to discollor. Have no idea how long to boil wood. After boiling do you keep it out of the air? Anything will help. I dont get wood this big often anymore and hate to waiste it.
