Ancient Pottery of My Mind -- comments welcomed *PIC*

e
>Having such a strong attraction to American Indian pottery, i have been drawn to the fine-line pieces displayed in books and museums. The pieces that showed wear and history were most inspiring.

Over the year, several pieces have been turned and embellished with this design. While they did an adequate job in representing this type of pottery, they were not what i saw in the ancient crevices of my mind ...

It took months to finally understand what i wanted ... and that was to merge my attraction to ancient pottery with my WOOD turnings. This piece moves closer to my vision.

The outside of the vessel is bleached and then the fine-line design is burned in. The final step is to carve away the missing slip and bring the wood to the surface.
