Subject:
Pink Sycamore *PIC*

Bert Smith
>One of my woodturning buddies had a large sycamore tree cut down at his daughter's home. He called me to say that the wood was pink. I thought maybe the heart of the tree had a reddish stain, but when I went to look at it I was amazed at the bright color throughout the tree. The log is probably 40" across and 20' long. The top was cut off and is just as pink as the base.
Has anyone seen sycamore this color before? It reminds me of the color of fresh salmon.
Can't wait to turn this stuff! Two more pictures to follow...
