I must be nuts!

>The article in Woodturning Design on making a winged vessel just kept nagging at me, so today I decided to try it. This is without a doubt the scariest thing I have attempted yet during my 9 months on the lathe! I have been nibbling away at it and finally have the bottom round and the chuck tenon in place. Now comes the really scary part...working up towards the wing and it's underside then reversing and trying to do the upper surface. This may take me a week to do at the rate I am going! I am scared to crank the lathe over 500 rpms, which doesn't make for a very smooth cut or very fast progress! I think Ed Karch was right when he said I would try anything...maybe I need to quit while I am ahead!
