Subject:
Tapping Acrylic for Bottle Stoppers

Jonathan Spool
>I have just ordered a batch of the gold titanium bottle stoppers from Berea. I plan to turn the tops from acrylic rather than wood.
Rather than over size the hole for the mandrel to thread into, which gives rather little depth for the threads, I would like to drill the hole and hand tap with a bottom tap. Unfortunately the threads of the stoppers are 6mm x 1.5. I can find plenty of sources for taps that are 6mm x 1, but not with the 1.5 thread pitch.

Does anyone know of a source for purchasing a 6mm x 1.5 tap? So far I can only find companies that can have one made for me for around $80!

Any help would be appreciated.

Jonathan
