This went poorly.... *PIC*

>Heya all....

This has me scratching my head....
I made this bowl bottom jig, glued a piece of maple to the walnut funnel I made yesterday, let it dry for about 5 hours, then tried to turn the thing... I liked the funnel, so I thought attempting a save was worth the effort...

.... what a fiasco...

No matter which tool I used, it would catch... spindle gouge, bowl gouge, small scraper, larger scraper... nothing... finally I had a catch large enough to handgrenade the entire bowl into small pieces....

So...

I am gonna guess that the maple was oriented long grain... and that is how I cut it... so I was thinking it should have turned like a spindle eh??...

.... and the bowl bottom jig... every little catch would send the bowl out of center... I can see this working for finishing a bowl bottom though... I will try that later...

I am sure I did not follow the "correct" procedure for gluing and then turning a block on the bottom of an existing bowl... but I am clueless as to what is the right way to do this...

All help appreciated!!
