Hollow form stock ?

Pete in Holland, MI
>Hey all -

Am expanding into the hollow form area of turning and am curious on how to get larger "dry" blocks to turn from. Am looking to turn pieces on my Jet1236, so diameter is limited.

1) Do I Anchorseal chunks of green firewood for a year or so? Strip the bark from them first?

2) Do I split/saw blanks from logs and anchorseal them to prevent cracking during drying?

3) Will dry firewood be worth my effort looking for check free stock?

4) As with bowls, do I still need to stay away from the plinth?

Trees are not an issue around here. Just trying to figure out better means of starting the drying process yet this fall. Input or directions to past articles will be appreciated.

Thanx.........
