Subject:
Should I be doing this differently?

>This new lathe is setting me up for a whole new learning curve. I have a Birch log that I want to get round and hollow end-grain. If I get an unintetional heavier cut where there are knots, the spur center will spin in the spindle. Something tells me this is not good for my spindle. Teknatool says not to use a mallet, only firm, quick hand pressure to install the spur center. The spindle opening and MT on the center are clean. What to do?
