Carter Guide Followup

>Received the Carter replacement guide set for my JET 18 today. Took all of 10 minutes to install and adjust them. Comments about them being noisy were apt until I got them adjusted so that the blade was making contact only when pushed. If you set them for continuous contact with the blade, they make a real racket.

I will note that they are loads easier to adjust, both top and bottom, than the old euro guides were. The lower set, while easier to set, is significantly lower that the old thrust bearing, meaning a longer stretch of unsupported band. I will run it this way and see, but I suspect that I may try to raise the lower unit with a piece of 3/4" plate to bring the thrust up closer to the table for greater beam strength.
