Maple burl platter *PIC*

Mike Schwing from Md.
>13" wide, absolutely spectacular piece of maple burl. Hope I did it justice. Tried to keep a nice simple, clean form so it wouldn't compete with the real star of the show. Had to epoxy it together at that big bark inclusion, started to come apart and wobble.

Finished by sanding to 4000 grit with Abralon pads, then sprayed a couple of thin coats of lacquer and then rubbed it back to 4000 grit. Nice, low sheen, supple finish.

Might have to buy another pallet full of maple burl after seeing this one that I roughed from very wet status on 3/19/05. Comments welcomed and thanks for lookin'!
