Maple platter *PIC*

Mike Schwing from Md.
>Maple of some sort that I don't find around here often, very hard, definitely not silver maple. Found at the log dump. About 14", exterior profile provides about 1/2" of lift at the rim.

I could not think of a single finish that would benefit this piece without at least a drawback or two, so it is as nature left it (minus 4000 grit Abralon) - otherwise - no finish at all. VERY tempting to at least wax it, but I dunno. Sanded at the following grits - 80, 120, 180, 240, 320, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000 (last 4 are Abralon pads). Comments welcomed, sure would like to find more of this tree.
