Color bleed question...

>I've been playing around with making bottle stoppers. I ordered some from Ruth Niles (very nice stuff btw). just for kicks, I glued up 4 pen blanks - two maple and two paduak. The maple has a nice orange tint to it after sanding. I know this must be an issue with those segemented turnings a lot of folks do. Is there any tricks? One thing I tried was a thin coat of shellac before sanding, but I still got the orange tint. The effect is neat even with the tinting of the maple. Thanks for the help.
