Wood Indentification help *PIC*

vicmarc.fan
>A friend gave me a block of wood he has had for years in storage. He couldn't remember what it was anymore. It was light gray on the sides where he used the bandsaw and looked like it was fuzzy at one time. The bark seemed like it would stay on so I turned a natural edge vase. In places it looks like sycamore but the bark in wrong for that and I have not seen the red things before. It also had a branch inclusion that I didn't see at the start. Sorry about the picture quality. Need to know because our club made a rule to have name, date and wood on things for show and tell. Thanks.
