some many chucks out there

>Okay, for the folks that have a lot of experience in turning this may some silly. I would like to know, what type of chuck should the beginner think of purchasing... Up too this point all turning are completed with a 6" faceplate and friction fit plates made of MDF ( on the 6" faceplate)I read the past entries and looked up the link provide. But I'm not sure what to look for...i.e quality..I also saw the entry about Barracuda , then the question about the Grizzily . Please point me in the right direction...Thanks, Kevin T in T Bay
