Long shot, but *PIC*

Carole in VA
>I thought I'd ask anyway. I have searched around trying to identify this small log, but I don't have much to work with. When cut green it is a very bright orangy-yellow, quickly mellowing to pinkish brown. The bark is smooth and I can only describe the limb as "muscular" in appearance. It turns easily and has open grain much like mahogany. Location is in eastern VA if that's any help. I suspect it is more of a shrub-like tree. Any ideas?
