Turning Archive 2005
>I recently picked up some 'roadside' wood that looks like Ash (white, oak-like rays).
While rough turning a piece, it showed some faint pink tinges. I then use Anchorseal on the end grain (or sometimes the whole piece depending). The next day I went to pick up the piece to put in my drying room and it is gone pink all over where the Anchorseal is!!! Primarily in the pattern of the grain, looks kinda funky.
Is this normal for Ash? Does it go pink when finished fully (eg an oil finish). Maybe this isn't Ash... Comments welcome.
The one pic is of the bowl, the next of a slab chainsawed not turned.
