Small Spindles, Sq. taper chuck *PIC*

Sonja Lemon Sacramento Ca.
>We read the string about chucking for Magic wands and decided to post our version of 'tapered' chuck. I am currently turning 4.5" bobbins for bobbin lace work (one of my other hobbies). Bob modified a Craftsman lathe copier to fit my little Jet. First picture shows the whole setup with a bobbin almost complete and ready to cut free. 2. shows making the first cut from the live cup center (the point has been removed). 3. The second cut to remove bobbin. 4. Stub in chuck, close up. 5. Finished bobbins.

The chuck takes 1/2" round and square stock.

It is easier to work with identical shaped bobbins, hence the duplicator! Bobbins are like clamps - you never have enough!!!
