Subject:
insect spray and salad bowls

>If a blank is destined to be a salad or fruit bowl and it has beetles, what is the safest way to get rid of the beetles without leaving harmful residues in the wood? We hear this question often. A member of our club suggested using a jarlid of gasoline placed in a plastic bag with the blank and put in the sun. As the gasoline turns to vapor it will kill most anything in the bag. Would any harmful chemicals be left in the wood with this process? Is there anything any better and safer?
