Wood ID Help

Ben Aragon
>I posted a message last week about wood ID help. Several people had questions I couldn’t answer at that time. Brad Vietje posted a very good reply about what would help identify wood. The friend that gave me the wood was out of town until now. He now told me that the wood came from Virginia. Here are some better photos.

Here are the two pieces of wood posted again with the only information I have.
1. photos
2. from Virginia

From Brad Vietje
1. Clear photos of bark, endgrain of log, and leaves, if possible.
2. LOCATION -- where was this wood found, and if possible, where the tree grew (swampy, rocky, 8,000 ft elevation, etc...)
3. Size/scale
4. Other details, such as twigs, buds, flowers, cones...

Great 2 cents Brad.

Best Regards,
Ben
