Push cut vs Pull cut

>What is the difference? Only where you stand. In either of these cuts the gouge's position in relation to the wood is identical. If you like to have shavings in your face use the pull cut; if you don't like the flavor of the shavings leave the gouge in the exact same position and step around the gouge (put it on the left side of your body instead of the right). This throws the chips away from you but the cut remains the same. Arguments expected>:)
