Subject:
grinding back a roughing gouge

Terry in Ottawa
>My yard sale roughing gouge has pitting at the cutting edge and about 3/16" back from the edge.

When I grind back past the pitting, should I grind straight into the wheel and then regrind the bevel, or should I follow the bevel back to fresh metal? I have a white wheel (80 grit?) on a 6 inch bench grinder. Any idea how long this should take?

Thanks
