>I've got a black locust bowl going and I'm wondering if the wood itself is a problem for food--salads, etc.?
I finished the inside of the bowl with pure tung (cut to about 25%) waited several days and sanded that down. Then a coat of shellac sanding sealer, dried overnight and sanded to 4000 abralon. Then I applied pure beeswax and burnished it in.
I figure/hope the finish is is food safe but wonder about the wood itself.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
BTW...thanks to everyone who responded to my question about square scraper angles...I'm not the greatest at follow-ups but have no doubt I appreciate it and thank you. This forum and its members/contributers have made **the** difference in my turning.
