Turning Archive 2005
>I just purchased a Henry Taylor square scraper. I know that I will want to cut the leading edge back a bit on the right hand side but I have two questions that go beyond that...
First, this scraper has a grind angle of about 75*. Yet I see more experienced turners sometimes suggesting 55*. This seems to me like it might turn my scarper into a bedan. Any thoughts on scraper angle?
Also, while cutting back the leading edge IU thought I might sharpen the left side a bit. I would appreciate any thought on this as well...should I do it? How do I go about it? What angle for the side and how far back?
