Practice makes perfect?

>A little survey: how much time do you devote to practicing on your lathe? Not actual pieces, just practice.

For example, Skew cuts, cutting coves and beads, unsupported cuts with the bowl gouge ( no bevel rubbing). These are a few I practice.

I feel that a bit of practice each day pays huge dividends.. instead of fearing that last cut on a bowl, you have the confidence to almost do it blindfolded. A well proportioned cove cut...in your sleep. Your opinion?
