Subject:
mini: Jet vs Delta

John K Jordan
>I may have the occasion to do a demo where I need a portable lathe so I looked today at the mini Deltas and Jets in Woodcraft. The Delta is a few dollars more but not enough to hurt.

They look almost identical, except Delta has the power switch on top and perhaps better access to the belt for speed change. Woodcraft said they've only had one problem, a motor on a Jet, but suspected it was from abuse. (They use Jets in their classroom, probably because they are a bit cheaper.)

Delta doesn't make a stand, but it appears it will fit on the Jet stand. It would probably not get heavy use.

Any words of wisdom? Experiences? Thanks.
