>We have several distinct types of spalt here and it appears to be related to the species affected. My question is after looking for a couple of hours on Google for information on spalted woods I could not find any name but simply spalted. Here we refer to the piece on the left as snake skin spalt and the piece on the right as three color spalt. Anyone have any information on spalted names or are we in new territory ? By the time the wood reaches this stage they are all but impossible to identify by species thus the search for a way to differentiate the various forms. Any help is appreciated.
