I would like to make this a VSC setup as I am too fat and lazy to keep bending down and rearranging the belt configuration.

Although I can do enough electrical work to hook up a motor.I know next to nothing as to what type of motor and controller to buy and make the VSC setup.

Can anyone give me advice as to what I need to buy.I would like to have something along the lines of at least a 1HP motor or maybe 1.5HP,if I don't lose too much HP when slowing the lathe down.

I plan to remove the counter shaft and run a Linkbelt from the motor to the step pulley is the headstock.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
