Subject:
Sharpening Ellsworth Gouge

Barry Turner
>A few days ago, I bought a 1/2" Crown PM bowl gouge with the Ellsworth grind. I used it today. Although it doesn't need to be reground just yet, I tried it in the vari-grind jig and played around with it. I can't seem to adjust the vari-grind where it will duplicate the Ellsworth grind very closely. It will do a very decent side-frind, but it just isn't the Ellsworth. When the time comes for regrinding, should I just do my normal side grind? Or, is the Ellsworth jig worth the $34.95 it costs?
