Willow Tree

Bruce in Saint John N.B. Canada
>A friend of mine called me to-day and offered me the wood from his weeping willow tree that he had just cut down. I waisted no time getting over there as apparently the tree surgeons had their eye on it for next winters fire wood. I got ten pieces of timber 10 to 14 inches in diameter and about 16 inches long. This afternoon I cut the pit out and sealed the ends as I don't have the time right now to rough turn them. I wonder is there anyone out there who has tried turning bowls out of weeping willow? The wood reminds me of poplar, real white in color. It will be interesting to see what it turns like and what the finished bowl looks like.
