Subject:
question on purchasing blanks

ken chase
>After lots of really hard work cutting some local chinaberry and finding much of it not useable it occurred to me I may be much better off just buying the wood from a dealer. Is wood purchased this way ready to turn? Does it still need to be cut on the band saw? Can you order the piece with choice of end grain or cross grain orientation? Can you tell the agent the size form you want to make and get the wood sized accordingly? Sorry if I rambled a bit here. I'm just tired from fighting the chain saw and the enormous mess it made in my shop.
Thanks
