I have aniline dyes that I used for leather dying. they are alcohol or some sort of solvent based and **very** strong--they strongly colour the leather or wood or whatever. Are these types of dyes OK to use on wood?

And the second question is...Can dyes, especially alcolhol based dyes(but water based dyes, too) be used over tung oil? I have a vase that I'd like to dye but I tung oiled it (50%pure tung / 50% mineral spirits) because the wood was a little old. Once the tung sets up (maybe a week if I remembers Russ Fairfield's article correctly) will the dye still penetrate?
