Waterlox vs. MTOF

I'd be interested to hear people's reactions regarding the tradeoffs between Waterlox and Minwax Tung Oil Finish. As I understand it, they're both generically similar products (oil/varnish blends). Are there real tradeoffs, or is it just a matter of which one you happened to get first?

I bought MTOF first, and I like it. From what I've heard and read, it seems that more turners may use Waterlox. I wonder if that's really true, and if so, why.

I like the sheen I get with MTOF on maple (which is all I've tried it on so far), and the sheen seems to be quite controllable as a function of the number of coats.

There must be more to it. I would appreciate some enlightenment.

TIA,

Gary
