>On the last three Madrone bowls, over 17", I've roughed to under 10% wall thickness, afixed glue blocks with a threaded faceplate to the recessed and stepped foot with CA, boiled for two hours, let cool and then soaked in alcohol overnight. When I've taken them out of the alcohol soak to air dry for 1/2 hour, the stress and torsion left at the bottom of the roughed bowl has split the Madrone foot and recess away from the glueblock thereby causing a mess. How do others turn medium to large bowls? Would a better bet be a faceplate on the bottom screwed into the bowl, or a spigot for a chuck?
