Wolverine Setup

>I just got a Wolverine grinding jig. I am using a Grizzly grinder that has a large wet wheel and a small white wheel. I've got the jig set up under the small wheel. The directions say the center of the wheel needs to be 6 1/4 to 6 1/2 inches above the workbench surface. I'm at 7 1/2 inches and there isn't room to raise the mount for the jig.

So I was planning to make a 1 inch high block to mount into the V on the grinding jig that holds the gouge handle to achieve the correct height.

I tried sharpening a bowl gouge and the wings are ground way too far back on the sides. Is there another solution before I make the riser block? Is anyone else using this grinder?
