Hollowing A Goblet

>In hollowing a goblet or lidded box I understand you should use a {3/8} spindle gouge. But what kind of grind would be best? I have the Wolverinve Vari-Grind attachment.

Should I put a side ground on the gouge where the support is in the down position?

Or, should I use a fingernail grind where the support is in the up position? Tia,
