Subject:
Glue Block Ratio

TomW in SouthJersey
>I believe I'm making my glue blocks too big. Is there a ratio to the diameter or a general rule of thumb? I just had one of the nicest platters I ever done launch while parting it off (not the first time). I've been using a 5 inch diameter block on a 12 inch platter.

I also think I need to get a smaller faceplate than the 6 inch stock one that comes with the Nova 3000.

Can a 3 or 4 inch block securely hold a 12 inch platter or a 8 by 6 inch vessel? I've seen glue questions about glue blocks but don't recall a block size discussion.
Suggestions? Maybe its my technique?
Tom
