green wood and burls

>I have noticed a number of turners really appreciate working green wood. I have been practicing with some and it is enjoyable. Does this method work with burls too? Given the randomness of the grain are there issues with the stresses of drying given that anything goes in a burl? Or is it better to let the burl stablize by drying/seasoning first?
