Subject:
CA Finish on a Pen *PIC*

Jim Shaver - Oakville, Ontario
>Hi,

Yes, another pen...but it's different! No not the pen, the finish, I have found out that finishes and pen turners are as varied as the people turning them, same for many bowl turners too.

I have been reading about pen turners using CA glue for a film clear coat on pens. I have been using friction polish and wax, till today. I tried my first CA pen finish, I used thin CA and applied two coats, micro meshed and then applied my usual frition polish and wax. The finish was better than I even expected to tell you the truth, I think I'm sold on CA as part of my finish process in my pen making now.

This is a Junior Statesman with a blue dyed box elder burl and a threaded post from a Junior Gentlemen's kit
Comments and advice are all welcome,

Take care,
Jim
