Subject:
Grafted Walnut Burl???

>Good Afternoon Friends,

I have gotten into turning recently. Today my nephew flew in from Santa Anna and stopped in to visit the shop. As we were passing the lathe he mentioned knowing of a walnut tree which was going to be harvested nearby his home in California. It is an American Walnut tree which has had English Walnut grafted to it years ago. the grafting was successful, and he mentioned lots of burls where the grafting took place. He told me he'd give me some of the burl if he was able to obtain any of the wood from the harvest. Would this wood be good for bowls?

George
