Subject:
question making wooden jaws for Nova Midi chuck?

>Hi - I'm a fairly inexperienced turner (mostly a neanderthal kind of guy, but have done a little turning). I own a Delta Midi, and am considering a number of projects that would make it nice to have a chuck. I've been considering the Supernova Precision Midi chuck, and have seen a lot of positive reactions to it here.

For one of the projects I'm considering, it would be nice to be able to make a set of non-marring wooden jaws for the chuck. (I'm planning a run of Judi drop spindles for my wife and her spinning guild.) Is it possible to replace the metal jaws that come with the chuck with shopmade wooden ones? Or is even thinking about this silly?

Thanks in advance for any replies.
