Subject:
Lathe noise issues

Dougj Crawfordsville, IN
>After watching Kevin G. rough a bowl this weekend, one thing I noticed was the noise level of his lathe. Yes his lathe is quite a few steps up from mine but none the less, I don't think my lathe should be this noisy.
When I have it on the lowest speed the noise is really loud (not chainsaw loud, but loud enough that I can't hear the radio) coming from inside the housing area. Then as I increase the speed the noise level goes down a bit but still too noisy.
My lathe is the Delta 46-715 Iron bed lathe, below is a link to the lathe I have.
Any and all help would be appreciated as I want this lathe to last a long while.
