Help identifying wood species *PIC*

Sandor in Boyds, MD
>I picked this up on the side of the road on my way home tonight. There are about 10 of these log sections, all between 10 and 14" diameter and 1 to 3 feet long.

Looks like the tree and the power lines were having a territorial spat. The power company won.

So what did I pick up?

All of my turning blanks so far have been purchased from a yard. These one is kinda orange yellow so I'm at a loss. And now I have to borrow the neighbor's chainsaw.

Is this what fresh cherry looks like?

Can anyone clue me in?

Thanks,

Sandor (eager to let the chips fly)
