Subject:
replacement tool rest question

>I have an old craftsman lathe with a 9" swing and I really don't like the tool rest and want to replace it. It's one of the old ones you adjust with a wrench and doing so gets old pretty quick. It seems lots of vendors have the delta 12" tool rest base for sale but I'm concerned it would be too big for a 9" lathe and the actual tool rest would be too high to use. I might be able to order a replacement rest from one of the midi/mini lathes as I think they have 10" swings which might be close enough to mine. Does anybody have the delta 12" rest and could they measure how high it is in it's lowest position for me? There aren't any stores close to me or I would go look at them myself. If anybody has any other ideas I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks,
MT
